2007 - 2008 EVENTS CALENDAR
Spring 2008 Concerts:
The Chesapeake Youth Chorale will sing it’s annual Spring Concert at the Easton Church of the Brethren on Saturday, April 12 at 4:00 pm and in the Cadby Auditorium at Chesapeake College on Sunday, April 13 at 4:00 pm. The Chesapeake Youth Chorale is directed by Ellen W. Wile.
This year’s spring program will include music by George Frideric Handel, as well as Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland, highlighting early and 20th century classical musical styles. Local talent from Dance Harrison Street will add a fresh touch of the art of dance choreography to the Bernstein piece.
The poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson will also be celebrated, along with songs of the American folk idiom and a Native American theme. Our collection of choristers is comprised of young individuals with various musical talents and to demonstrate this, several children will play an instrument during the concert, or sing a solo. To end the concert, the Chorale will sing a medley of two famous African American Spirituals.
The public is invited to attend.
Winter 2007 Concerts:
“The Classical Tradition/Traditional Classics" Featuring music by the composers Antonio Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, John Rutter, and well-known Christmas tunes such as "Angels We have Heard on High", "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers". A rousing arrangement of "Children, Go Where I Send Thee", by Caldwell and Ivory, will surely set you in the Christmas mood! Admission is free to hear these talented young singers.
